Chiefs in Playoffs

Before the games started today there were six teams trying to get the last two playoff spots in the AFC. They were 1. Denver 2. NY Jets 3. Cinncinatti 4. Tennessee 5. Jacksonville 6. Kansas City. The Jaguars and the Chiefs palyed each other and the loser would be elimanated. For the Jags to make it they not only needed to win but the Jets, Cincy and Tennessee had to lose. For KC to advance the Broncos, Cincy and Tenn had to lose. KC went up early and by halftime it was 21-7 the Chiefs ahead. As the second half progressed the scoreboard showed that both Cincy and Tenn were losing but the Jets were winning which wasnt good for Jax. They were losing anyway but they started making a comeback. Things were still going KC way but the Denver game did not start untill their was over. Cincy went ahead but Pittsburg tied it up and they went to overtime and Pittsburg won in overtime. New England beat Tenn. Jacksonville but in their 3rd string quaterback and he managed to get into the endzone a couple of times and make it close but KC held on to win 35-31. NOW it was up to San Francisco to beat Denver. The prospects weren't good. San Fran is not a good team. I was in church and not able to follow the game. When I was able to check the score after church it was 26-23 San Fran. KC was in. They play the Indianaplois Colts on Saturday in the first round of the playoffs.

Lamar Hunt

Lamar Hunt the owner of the Kansas City Chiefs died this week. He was an original founder in 1960 of the AFL, American Football league. His team was the Dallas Texans. He was competing against a new NFL team in Dallas Called the Cowboys. He moved his team in 1962 to Kansas City and changed their name to the Chiefs. He also was one of the owners pushing for a game between the NFL champion and The AFL champion. The first championship game was in 1967 between the Greenbay Packers and Hunts KC Chiefs. He was also a factor in the 2 leagues merging and becoming the NFL as we know it today. He is also credited with giving the championship game its name. It is said he was playing with his sons Super Ball and thinking about the Championship Game and was running names through his head and started thinking of college bowl games and his sons ball and came up with Super Bowl.

Slowing Down

Yes I am back in California. I went home last week and spent some quality time with my wife. We finally had some time to do some Christmas shopping on Saturday. On Sunday I flew back out to CA. The work here is going very well. We are cutting way back on our number of employees. There are two reasons for cutting back. One is we lost the shipping side of the business. The company whose warehouse we are in does not have enough work for their employees so they are taking over the shipping side.
The other reason is the season is slowing down. We do not have as many cases coming through the warehouse so we have to cut back on the number of employees. I am staying here until Tuesday then I will be going home.

SEC CHAMPS

Well Florida has once again become King in the SEC. They beat the Arkansas Razorbacks to win the Sec Championship game in Atlanta. They are now 12-1 and will be playin in a bowl game. Which bowl game is yet to be determined. They BCS polls will come out Sunday night and that will determine where Florida goes. As SEC champs they would go to the Sugar Bowl unless they play for the national championship. The pollsters will determine that. OSU will be number one because they are undefeated. Florida or Michagan will get voted in as number two and will then get to play OSU for the championship.

Talked to Dad and he said that they had a pretty good snow storm come up in KC. They had to close portions of I-70 between KC and ST Louis. I am going to KC on Monday as I leave CA. The weather report says the highs are going to be in the 20's. That sounds awlfully cold to me. This is a picture of some deer taken in Lee's Sumitt, MO.
