Lamar Hunt



Lamar Hunt the owner of the Kansas City Chiefs died this week. He was an original founder in 1960 of the AFL, American Football league. His team was the Dallas Texans. He was competing against a new NFL team in Dallas Called the Cowboys. He moved his team in 1962 to Kansas City and changed their name to the Chiefs. He also was one of the owners pushing for a game between the NFL champion and The AFL champion. The first championship game was in 1967 between the Greenbay Packers and Hunts KC Chiefs. He was also a factor in the 2 leagues merging and becoming the NFL as we know it today. He is also credited with giving the championship game its name. It is said he was playing with his sons Super Ball and thinking about the Championship Game and was running names through his head and started thinking of college bowl games and his sons ball and came up with Super Bowl.
