Fishing

Well I am home from CA and have been working around the house(not to much though.) We have finished the dock. All that is left to do is sod the area around the dock where the fill dirt was put in.

Sharon went down to the dock after looking out the window to take the following pictures.

I thought that everyone might like those. I know I did. Since the girls and Matt got home they have enjoyed the use of the dock. Here are some pictures of them fishing.

Rochelle is baiting her own hook with live shrimp. Don't be surprised she does this all the time.

Monique caught a little sheep head. They threw it back hoping to catch it when it grows up.

Grandpa is throwing the shrimp net trying to catch some bait. I went fishing after I got home. Ralph had bought me a new rod and reel for my birthday and the first day I used it I got the little fish pictured below. Well it is little for a shark.

In this last picture you can't really see the teeth very well. They are small but razor sharp.

Back in CA

I have been in CA for the last week. I came out here to help hire employees for both accounts we have here in Ontario. It has been hard because my girls just came home from Korea and I only got to see them for a couple days before I left. Not much else going on. The dock is just about completed at the house. When I get home I will put more pictures on my blog. Just wanted to put in a quick update not much else to say.

Still getting back to work

My second week of vacation kept me moving. On Monday I went with my pastor, down state to Pompano Beach. He had a fish to pick up at a taxidermist. It was a nice fish, about 44 inches long. Wednesday found me flying to San Francisco. I was with my Rochelle and put her on a plane for Seoul, Korea. She is meeting her sister there and is staying till they all come back in June. Thursday I flew to Kansas City and spent the weekend with my parents and brothers and sisters. Dad took us on a tour of central Missouri and showed us where our ancestors are buried.
We were in Clinton, Deepwater, Calhoun, and Kings Prairie. I did not have my wife's camera with me or I would have taken some pictures.

Back to Work

Well I took two weeks off work for vacation. The first week I spent at home and helped my father in law work on our dock. We had some bad weather a few years ago and it left our dock looking like this. As you can see there is no dock left.

We had our work cut out for us. The first thing we did was replace the actual dock. Then the bulkhead needed some work. Well maybe more than SOME work. It needed to be replaced. We got to work and decided we would put in a vinyl bulkhead this time instead of wood. We got the materials together and hired a couple of guys and got to work. As you can see a lot of work has gone into the job. When we get done I will give you some pictures of the finished job. Here are some of the benefits of having the dock. This was a little one. We did have some problems while we were working on the dock. You may have heard of the fires in southern Georiga and in north Florida. We got some smoke from those fires and had to quit working for a couple of days. This shows smoke in the air not clouds. The fires were about 70 miles away.

I am back

I have been trying for a while to get back on my blog but had forgotten the password. I finally took the time to research the way to retrieve it. I am now back. I have been introduced by my daughter, Rochelle, to a website where you can play chess on line. If you play chess and would like to challenge me to a game I play under the name rick61355. I will try to keep this up a little better. At least once a week. I am starting two weeks of vacation and have some big things coming up in the near future that some may want to hear about. A good friend on mine just started his own blog page. His name is Jim Koerts. Click on his name to check it out.
That is all I have for now. Have a good day.

A Long Time

It has been almost a month since I last typed anything in here. Since then the chiefs lost in the first round of the playoffs and the Florida Gators won the College National Championship. The basketball team is doing well again this year. They are currently ranked number One.

I have been at home for most of the month of January with only a short trip to Orlando and one to Marianna, FL. Last week we had revival services in our church. The evangelist name was Will
Galkin. He was very good. On Friday after church some of the men got together and played basketball. I forgot I was in my 50's and out of shape and went to play. On Saturday I was so sore it was difficult to move about. Most of the men there were in their 20's or 30's. I did enjoy myself.

My father in law will be home on Saturday. He has been in VA staying with his brother. His brother had shoulder replacement surgery. He has just about recovered and doesn't need help anymore so Ralph is headed home. He had told all his doctors that he would not be home during the month of January so they held off on any appointments which means next week he has 5 doctor appointments. The end of next week Sharon and I are going to Chattanooga for the company's annual managers meeting.

Mom and I are spending the evening sitting in front of the fireplace just enjoying its warmth on a cool Florida winter night. It has been very pleasent just relaxing here.

Well that is about it for now. I will try to write a little more often in the future.

Chiefs in Playoffs

Before the games started today there were six teams trying to get the last two playoff spots in the AFC. They were 1. Denver 2. NY Jets 3. Cinncinatti 4. Tennessee 5. Jacksonville 6. Kansas City. The Jaguars and the Chiefs palyed each other and the loser would be elimanated. For the Jags to make it they not only needed to win but the Jets, Cincy and Tennessee had to lose. For KC to advance the Broncos, Cincy and Tenn had to lose. KC went up early and by halftime it was 21-7 the Chiefs ahead. As the second half progressed the scoreboard showed that both Cincy and Tenn were losing but the Jets were winning which wasnt good for Jax. They were losing anyway but they started making a comeback. Things were still going KC way but the Denver game did not start untill their was over. Cincy went ahead but Pittsburg tied it up and they went to overtime and Pittsburg won in overtime. New England beat Tenn. Jacksonville but in their 3rd string quaterback and he managed to get into the endzone a couple of times and make it close but KC held on to win 35-31. NOW it was up to San Francisco to beat Denver. The prospects weren't good. San Fran is not a good team. I was in church and not able to follow the game. When I was able to check the score after church it was 26-23 San Fran. KC was in. They play the Indianaplois Colts on Saturday in the first round of the playoffs.
